A good riddle does not test what you know; it tests how quickly you can stop reading a sentence literally. Every question in this pool works the same way: the wording seems to describe something impossible, and the answer is an everyday object that has been hiding behind a figure of speech. A piano has keys. A river has a bed. A stamp travels the world from one corner of an envelope. Once you see the trick, it feels obvious — which is exactly what makes riddles fun to pass around.

How the round works

Each round pulls fifteen riddles at random from a pool of thirty, and each one gives you four options. The wrong answers are deliberately reasonable, so guessing without thinking will cost you. Read the whole riddle before you look at the options; the phrasing usually contains the clue, and the options are there to pull you toward the literal reading.

Play it out loud

Riddles are better shared than solved alone. Read them to a group and let people argue about the answer before anyone taps anything — half the enjoyment is watching someone talk themselves out of the correct guess. They work well with kids, at dinner tables, and on long drives, and because the pool reshuffles every round, you can play it more than once in an evening.
