How the Gossip Game works

One person reads the card out loud. On the count of three everybody points at whoever fits best. The player with the most votes takes the card and keeps it; whoever holds the most cards at the end is, officially, the most talked about person in the room. There is no defending yourself, but there is always time for one sentence of explanation — that sentence is usually the funniest part of the round.

Kind gossip only

Every card here is written to be flattering, absurd, or both. You will find out who the group thinks would survive a zombie apocalypse, who would name a pet something ridiculous, and who is still going to be in this chat in twenty years. Nothing about looks, nothing about anyone's private life, nothing that stings the next morning. That is a deliberate choice: a voting game only stays fun while nobody is quietly hurt by it.

Best with four or more

Three players works, but the game comes alive at five to ten, where the votes actually split and people start campaigning. It is a strong opener for a party — it teaches a new group who everyone is within ten minutes — and it works just as well with friends who have known each other for years.
