How to play
Pick a letter from the keyboard on screen. If the word contains it, it drops into place. If it does not, you lose a life. Six wrong guesses and the drawing is finished, along with your round.
The hint
Every word comes with its category printed above it: Animal, Food, City, Job, Object, Nature, Sport, or Movie. Reading the category first is the cheapest way to narrow down which letters are worth spending a guess on.
Strategy
The most common letters in English are E, A, R, I, O, T, N, and S. Opening with a few of those exposes the skeleton of the word fast. Once the vowels are showing, the syllable shape usually tells you which consonants to try next, and common endings such as -ING, -ER, and -TION give away far more than people expect.
The word pool is built from everyday language, so the first letters that come to mind are usually the right ones. Even so, starting with vowels is still the best-known way to keep all six lives.

Hangman is one of the oldest word games that needs no paper and no pencil. Because you can work on the answer even when it is not your turn, a crowded room quickly turns it into a group game: one person taps the letters while everyone else shouts directions.
