A storm, a hillside house and a dinner that was supposed to celebrate twenty years of a record label. At 21:12 the power dies, and for fourteen minutes the house is completely dark. When the lights come back, Adrian Vance is dead in his study with his own award beside him. Four guests, four motives, four statements — and one of those statements is physically impossible.

What is in the file
This is a detective case file game in the style of an unsolved case folder, not a role-playing party where everybody acts out a character. You get the crime scene report, the forensic summary, three exhibits (a burnt ledger page, a phone network log and a receipt), a floor plan and four full interrogation transcripts. Nobody is assigned to be the killer: you read the paperwork and work out who did it, exactly as a detective would.
How many people and how long
One to six investigators, 45 to 60 minutes. It works solo with a coffee, as a two-player evening, or spread across a table at a party where everyone takes a document and argues. Print the eight pages single-sided on A4 in black and white, keep the last page face down, and give everyone a pen for their own timeline of the blackout.
How to solve the case at home
Read the two objective documents first — nothing in them is a lie — then mark every claim in the transcripts that can be checked against them. Three alibis are supported by something outside the speaker's mouth; one is not. Fill in the answer form on page seven, then hold page eight up to a mirror: the solution is printed in mirror writing so nobody can spoil it by glancing at the wrong page, with a one-letter shift cipher as a hint before it.
