Cap or no cap

"Cap" means a lie. "No cap" means it is true. One player draws a card and makes a claim on that topic — real or completely invented, their choice. Everyone else votes: cap or no cap. Then the truth comes out. If the group guesses right they score; if the player fooled everyone, the point goes to them. Play to ten, or until somebody's story goes so far off the rails that the round is over anyway.

Why it beats a normal truth game

Ordinary confession games only work if people are willing to be honest. Here honesty is optional, which is exactly why people end up telling their real stories: a true story you would never volunteer is safe to say out loud when half the room assumes you are lying. Some of the best rounds are true things that nobody believes.

Bluffing tips

Specifics sell a lie — a year, a street name, a price. But too many specifics look rehearsed, so pick two and stop. On defense, ask one follow-up question rather than three; liars survive interrogation, but they rarely survive one very ordinary detail question asked calmly. And watch who laughs before they answer.
